Beyond the Hype Conference Brings Together Researchers, Industry, and Innovators to Explore the Future of Sustainable Protein

The Carasso FoodTech Innovation Center and the Hecht Sustainable Protein Research Center co-hosted Beyond the Hype: Science, Technology and Innovation in Sustainable Protein Research, bringing together researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders for a day of scientific discussions, innovation, and collaboration around the future of sustainable food systems.
On June 18, the Carasso FoodTech Innovation Center and the Hecht Sustainable Protein Research Center hosted Beyond the Hype: Science, Technology and Innovation in Sustainable Protein Research at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Technion.
The conference brought together a diverse community of researchers, students, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, investors, and technology experts to discuss the scientific, technological, and commercial challenges shaping the future of sustainable protein and food innovation.
The program featured keynote lectures by internationally recognized experts, scientific presentations from leading researchers, a student poster competition, an analytical technology exhibition, and a multidisciplinary panel discussion. Throughout the day, participants explored topics ranging from alternative proteins, food structure engineering, cellular agriculture, and precision fermentation to consumer adoption, sustainability, and future food systems.
One of the conference’s key themes was the importance of connecting scientific excellence with real-world implementation. Discussions highlighted the need for collaboration across academia, industry, entrepreneurship, and policy in order to translate breakthrough research into scalable, impactful solutions for global food challenges.
The event also provided valuable opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange, with conversations continuing well beyond the lecture hall—in the poster sessions, exhibition area, and informal discussions throughout the day.
